SWEAT FAQ 3.0
Hi Friends: We've written this handy SWEAT FAQ in order to answer the questions we hear a lot. If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask. Thanks and enjoy..

Q. Where is Sweat Records?
A. Sweat is located INSIDE of Churchill's Pub, 5501 NE 2nd Ave. You go in through the bar, head out the back, and you'll see our sign over the red double doors to your left. We have a really cute converted warehouse space, and even though it's a bit smaller we actually have more music now than we did before!!

Q. What happened to your old location?
A. On October 23rd, 2005 Hurricane Wilma tore our old space a new one - literally. The entire front wall of the second floor collapsed onto the street below, rendering our building unsafe by the city. You have to see it to believe it tho - check out the pics here: blog.myspace.com/sweatrecords

Q. Are you ever going back there?
A. No, the building is damaged beyond repair and getting worse by the minute. We affectionately refer to it as "the scum dungeon." It will probably be bulldozed and turned into luxury condos or something else Miami needs less of.

Q. Who is behind all this?
A. Sweat Records was the lovechild of two best friends and music lovers. Lauren Reskin, aka Lolo, is a local DJ and promoter (Roll Out, Poplife, VICE, Ladyballs, Revolver, Crush, etc.) who previously worked at the Virgin Megastore for 5+ years and is now running Sweat amongst other various projects. Sara Yousuf is an ex-WVUM DJ and UM Law grad who is now a fantastic public defender FIGHTING THE MAN!!

Q. Why'd Sara leave Sweat?
A. Her law career became pretty demanding so she graciously bowed out of Sweat in early 2006. We are still the bestest of friends!!

Q. What kind of music does Sweat Records sell?
A wide selection of quality classic, current and cutting-edge music: INDIE (all-encompassing: this includes rock, pop, hardcore, punk, prog, goth, metal, soul, funk, noise, etc), HIPHOP (old skool to new skool), ELECTRONIC (again, more out-there and less mainstream - sorry Tiesto!!), INTERNATIONAL (everything from Serge Gainsbourg to Scratch Perry and more) LOCAL and USED music. This is a general explanation but we carry all sorts of interesting music in a dizzying array of obscure sub-genres. Additionally, anything else you are interested in and don't see please tell us and we'll look into it.

Q. What else do you sell?
A. DVDs, books, magazines, cute and strange Japanese toys and collectibles (Kid Robot, San-x, Strangeco, etc.), magnets, buttons, unique gifts, other kinds of music and pop culture merch.

Q. How do I get my music in your store?
A. For music just bring 2 copies of it by. Anything else please call first or email lolo [at] sweatrecordsmiami [dot] com. We sell all local merch on consignment and give everyone a super fair deal.

Q. Do you sell vinyl?
A. Of course!! Tons of it. New and pre-loved.

Q. What is this...indie?
A. Indie is short for independent, as in independent of the mainstream/corporate/etc. environment. Check wikipedia for a full explanation.

Q. Do you sell non-indie music?
A. Sure. A lot of bands we like happen to be on major labels. We wouldn't feel right having a store that sells "good music" that missed certain bands because they are on a major.

Q. What if I don't find what I'm looking for at Sweat?
A. Talk to whoever is currently working. Even if it's wack we'll take your info and order it for you and give you call when it comes in. Quick turnaround and no charges for shipping!!

Q. How do I sell/trade you my used CDs/LPs/DVDs?
A. Lolo takes care of buying the CDs and DVDs so call first. For LPs you must make an appointment with Ryan aka Induce who is the vinyl master here at Sweat, he usually works Monday nights. The store number is 305.758.5862 ext.5

Q. I would like to have an instore event at your store/Churchill's, what do I do?
A. Contact Lolo and she will let you know if it's possible and which dates are available, or transfer you to J, Churchill's friendly booking agent.

Q. Who did your awesome logo + mascot?
A. Chuck Loose at www.snap-e-chuck.com, he makes "Good Art for Bad People"

Q. How can I get involved?
A. We need people with SKILLS - you know, promoting skills, handing-out-flyers skills... We are currently looking for people to rep for Sweat and be part of our um, elite street team. Contact us for the secret handshake.

Q. Do you sell tickets to events?
A. Yes! If you are an event promoter who would live to have Sweat as a ticket outlet, please email lolo [at] sweatrecordsmiami [dot] com.

Q. How do I stay updated?
A. Join our mailing list check out our blog be our friend on myspace, keep your eyes open for our flyers and ads around Miami, or better yet, come by the store frequently!!.
