A24's Pearl is the inventive prequel to the hit horror X, directed by Ti West. Pearl's score brings back acclaimed composer Tyler Bates - this time alongside award-winner Timothy Williams (Finding You, Get Out!). An ode to the mid-century melodrama of the film, the booming, string-flooded score is an impressive feat. Enlisting a full 68 person orchestra, Bates and Williams have created a sound that demands to be a central character in the film - it's romantic and classically cinematic, tinted with the foreboding it accompanies on screen.
